Oyen pet insurance policy has a 14 calendar day waiting period for vet medical claims relating to illness.
A waiting period refers to the amount of time after you have purchased the policy before your pet is eligible for vet or burial claims as a result of illnesses. This is waived when you renew your insurance. However, if there is a break in insurance, the waiting period will apply again.
What this means is that, if you purchase the Oyen insurance for your pet on 2 March (Day 1), you can start claiming vet medical fees (for claims relating to illnesses) for your pet starting 16 March (Day 15), i.e. your vet medical visitation and bill have to be dated on Day 15.
This waiting period does not apply for claims relating to accidental injury.
Why have a "Waiting Period"?
We have designed waiting period to protect all responsible Oyen customers. It prevents someone from abusing the pet coverage and attempts to buy insurance after there is a vet medical claim.
